By 2000, the first-time hotelier built the business from a company revenue of $320K per year to $4.4 million — a nearly 38% revenue increase in less than 8 years. But it didn’t stop there. Embassy Hotel Holdings continued to expand as Punjwani sharpened his command as a real estate developer. Maintaining a natural business perspective, he quickly developed a knack locating and acquiring properties with profit potential. In all, the entrepreneur and real estate developer built Embassy Hotel Holdings’ annual revenue to $12.5 million before selling the business’s portfolio off.
But it wasn’t long before Shawn Punjwani gravitated back to the hospitality industry. Realizing his potential as a hospitality management leader, Punjwani relaunched Embassy Hotel Holdings officially in 2002, ten years after the venture’s initial launch. The relaunch debuted with the acquisition of a hotel location in the Minneapolis metro area. Quickly, Punjwani increased the venture’s revenue from $2.2 million to $3 million. He was energized by his early success in developing and implementing strong strategies for his hotel venture and decided that he’d found his footing as a leader in hospitality management.
